While almost universally associated with the great scholar Muhammad Ibn Sirin (d. 728 CE/110 AH), the text as we know it today is considered a compilation of his teachings, principles, and interpretations, collected and organized by his students and later scholars. The most authoritative compilation is widely believed to have been completed in the 15th century by a scholar named al-Dārī, who titled his work Selection of Statements on the Exegesis of Dreams .
