The myth that Inspect Element can view private profiles likely stems from an old vulnerability discovered in 2019. This was essentially a glitch in how Instagram handled cached content, not a method for unauthorized discovery.

Crucially, Inspect Element does allow you to see data that hasn't been loaded onto your computer by Instagram's servers in the first place. It only interacts with the HTML and CSS code that your browser has already received. Most of these websites will show a fake loading bar to make it look like they are hacking the profile. They will then demand that you complete a "human verification" survey, download mobile games, or sign up for subscription services to see the results. The website owners make money off your clicks, and you never get to see the private profile.
